Penny’s Puppy Paws Dog Rescue is a non profit organization situated in the Haut-St-Laurent region of Quebec. It is primarily based out of Huntingdon for the time being but that may be subject to change in the near future. The main goal of Penny’s Puppy Paws Dog Rescue is to rescue and rehabilitate abandoned dogs that would otherwise be euthanized.
Did you know that Quebec is considered one of the worst places in North America for animal welfare?
We think its high time for this to change and through education regarding proper pet care we hope to take a small bite out of this problem. It is also for this reason that we do not regularly take in owner surrenders. We do not like to encourage people to re-home their pets as we feel that a dog is a life time commitment and they should become a member of the family and not a commodity. However, we are human and we do understand that certain emergencies do come up where it really is impossible for human and dog to stay together, under these such emergencies we are willing to take owner surrenders but the terms under which we will take the dog are to be discussed. All of our adopted dogs leave spayed/neutered, vaccinated, tested for heart worms and lymes disease, de wormed, etc.
At Penny’s Puppy Paws we feel very strongly about placing dogs based on compatibility and not on a first come first serve basis. Due to this we have very few dogs returned to us and we have a lot of happy people and happy dogs. If you are interested in adopting a dog or would like more information about the rescue you can contact us.
